—ECDI (Early Childhood Development Initiative) is a program to create awareness and cultivate early childhood development, and education opportunities for African families in West Africa and Toronto, Canada. Patricia Falope (program creator & lead) cultivates and develops learning programs, workshops, and community resources for African parents of children aged 0-12.
I worked with a developer to update her existing website and create a new online learning platform in Moodle to integrate a course creation database. We worked with her to set up both of the initial website(s), she wanted two, under a Red Cross grant she received in 2020. The ultimate recommended next step—would be to integrate the Moodle platform programs within the main hub. Keep everything in one place.
From November 2020 to January 2021, I worked with ECDI. My tasks included:
• Researched early childhood education, African learning pathways, and online learning platforms
• Researched (with the developer) best-case scenarios to sit within the ECDI budget
• Developed a tiered plan of action
• Edited and added to both the content and flow
• Integrated a course creation database
• Learned to design/build in Divi Builder and Moodle
• Created basic launch material (Poster, Instagram & Facebook)
• Created tablet app icons and instructions for quick links and device access for families
